Air Handling Units (AHUs) play an important role in ensuring the manufacturing of quality pharmaceutical products. The good manufacturing practices (GMPs) requirements of the prevention of contamination and cross-contamination are an essential design consideration of an HVAC system. A well-designed HVAC system also provides environmental protection, operator protection as well as comfortable working conditions for operators. The company is committed to providing a safe and comfortable working environment for its employees considering the quality of the final product.
In order to ensure quality products and prevention of any contamination a controlled environment is required where the working area is isolated from the open atmosphere and clean air is circulated. The controlled temperature and humidity conditions for all processing rooms are maintained. Daily monitoring of temperature, humidity, and pressure is carried out to ensure suitable conditions are provided. In case of any abnormality, mandatory corrective actions are taken accordingly. For monitoring purposes calibrated gauges: hygrometers and manometers are installed at each location. All AHUs are validated and performance validation was performed thoroughly.
Temperature, humidity, pressure, air change rate, and air microbial study were carried out using calibrated gauges as per related SOPs. A duct delivery system ensures that air distributes evenly and maintains required temperature and humidity conditions. Filters are installed at multiple points to remove particulate matter from the air in order to deliver clean air for a healthy atmosphere.
